Class Project Guidelines Each Leadership Washington County class will be divided into three groups and each group will be required to complete a group project during their class year. The project is aimed at encouraging community action and involvement while expanding the awareness level of class participants. Project agencies will be pre-selected by Leadership Washington County Class Liaisons with input from the Board of Directors and alumni. The scope of the project is at the discretion of agencies with input from the project group, being mindful of the Leadership program objectives: • Identify, train, motivate and retain local leaders. • Provide participants with an awareness of issues, challenges, opportunities and rewards provided by community service. • Develop a format for ongoing communications and mentoring among emerging and established leaders to stimulate ideas and involvement. • Encourage leaders to increase their involvement in the community through volunteerism by connecting to existing programs and new initiatives. • Explore various concepts and techniques of leadership skills applicable in the workplace and community In order to successfully complete a class project, discussion time will be allotted during class sessions. This time will typically be allotted at the beginning of each session. At the end of the allotted class project time, each group will be required to submit a brief progress report to the class liaison and give a brief oral project update to the class. While class time is provided for project discussion, class members are encouraged and will likely find it necessary to meet outside of class times to work on their projects.
